Spiritual Organizations

Sunday School
Sunday school takes care of the spiritual nurturing of the children, by bringing them up in the knowledge and fellowship of Jesus Christ and His Church. The classes are conducted in Malayalam. The classes range from Pre-primary classes to the 12th class. As in secular schools, class ten concludes the secondary level and a certificate is awarded –Sunday School final Certificate (SSFC) to the successful candidates. Higher Secondary course is for another two years. Sunday school is functioning well with the guidance of Mrs.Valsa Varghese Velliammaril, as the Head Mistress, Mrs Lissy Baby as the staff secretary. It follows the curriculum, jointly prepared and published by the Oriental Orthodox Churches which is revised from time to time. There are 41 children studying in classes 1 to 11.
The regional meeting for Sunday School teachers Mulakulam was conducted in Parel Palli, about 50 teachers participated in it to make the event a great success. Our Parish has got a First Prize in a Zonal level singing competition, junior category (Gregory Kurien). This year we have 4 students, who successfully completed their 10th standard and awarded The Sunday School final Certificate (SSFC).

Prayer Meeting
Prayer meetings are active in our parish. The objective of this group is to ascertain the inculcation of firm faith, love of the church and brotherhood and bring about the spiritual, material and educational upliftment of the people. Mr Biju Thettalil is the working secretary of our Prarthana Yogam. Our parish being small, we do have only one unit of the yogam. We conduct prayer meetings on every 2nd and 4th Saturdays at the house of a Parish member as previously announced by the Vicar, based on a pre published list. Our parish has won the Ever-rolling Trophy for participating more members in the annual meeting of Prarthana Yogams. Our parish members also actively participated in the Mulakulam Mekhala prarthanayogam.
In addition Mr Sunny Thettalil who hails from our parish is the Kandanad West Diocesan level organizer of the Prayer Meeting.

Yuvajana Samajam
The Orthodox Christian Youth Movement (OCYM) is the Youth-wing of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Chruch. It contributes to the goodness and progress of the Church and community in the three-fold path of worship, study and service. It aims at moulding the minds and visions of the youth against the background of the contemporary issues. Jerin George is working as the secretary of youth league in our church. Youth league actively took the leadership in successfully conducting the Christmas Carol service of 2013.
Vanitha Samajam
St Mary's Orthodox women's League of India ( Marth Mariam Samajam) Is the Women's wing of the Malankara Orthodox Church of India. It is one of the major spiritual organization of the church combining all the female members. The founders named it "Morth Mariam Samajam"after the Blessed Virgin Mary whom they accepted as their interceding saint. Smt. Akkamma Mathews Chempakaparampil is the samajam secretary of Parel Parish. On every Sunday  after the holy Eucharist (Communion/Qurbana) samajam members meet in the church. The Samajam members actively participate in various spiritual  events conducted at various levels. There was active participation from our church in the state level meeting of the samajam at Omallur last year..

NAVAJYOTHI MOMS SOCIETY

Navajyothi MOMS is a Project of Malankara Orthodox Marthamariyam Samajam, aimed to attain self sufficiency in finance and good standard of living among the woman’s of all the churches. Mrs Rebeca Joy Koottumalil hailing from our church is the Diocean Animator for Kandanad West Diocese. Mrs Annamma Joy Pookunnel is the unit secretary of our parish.


DivyaBodhanam (ദിവ്യബോധനം)

Divyabodhanam is a novel step in the field of theological studies of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church is a laymen training course of the church. The seedling of the concept of this project was sown by the world renounced theologian, philosopher, thinker and spoken person of eastern spirituality, Late Lamented Paulose Mar Gregorios Metropolitan.
The unit organizer from our church is Mrs Rebeca Joy Koottumalil. As on June 2014 we have 7 members studying for Proficiency in Orthodox Christian Education (P.O.C.E): 2 Year certificate course, and 2 members for Diploma in Orthodox Christian Education (D.O.C.E): 2 Year Diploma course.
There are 10 books in the course and each book for a duration of 2 months. End of first month is the submission of summary and on completion of two months the thesis has to be submitted. Our Vicar conducts Bi monthly contact classes on the book of study.

Choir

Our parish has a well functioning Choir under the leadership of Mrs Simi Binoy. Our Choir is registered with the Sruti School of Liturgical Music.
